Wiring A Switched Receptacle. To maintain proper polarity when wiring a receptacle connect the black hot wire to one of the hot bronze colored terminals. The neutral is spliced with a pigtail to the neutral terminal on the receptacle and to the white wire running through to the neutral at the light fixture located in a separate box.
The connections for a switched outlet also known as a half hot plug. When wiring standard switches the wires connected to the switch are both hot. To connect the switches simply score the wire with your wire stripper and push the insulation to expose about 3 4 in.

Cut a short 6 piece of cable and remove the outer sheath. Splice the feed wire with the white marked wire and add a pigtail. Connect the pigtail to a brass terminal the remaining black wire to the other brass terminal and the white wire to a silver terminal. Connect the last switch in the usual manner looping the wire around the screw in a clockwise direction.
