Unlike lm3915 which have 3db step between voltage levels the lm3916 have nonlinear steps.
The led indicator may work in line or spot mode. This instructable will build one out on the breadboard. All the devices in this group operate with a range of voltages from 3 35 v can drive led and vfd displays. The lm3915 will provide the functions to building a simple vu meter at home.
